All pieces are original, fabricated and are of the highest quality in design and craftsmanship. The process and inspiration for these pieces begins with a walk on a beach or riverbank. Stones are carefully chosen for their shape, color and natural beauty. They are to symbolize the earth, the sea, the beauty of the natural landscape. Pearls are chosen for their organic origins. They become a symbol for the beauty that life has to offer. Finally, I will often add precious stones and metals, these represent the human manipulations to "improve" the natural. (I also like the juxtaposition of the valuable and the ordinary as it reminds us that it is only our preceptions that define which is which.) I want to make jewelry that is beautiful in and of itself (to manipulate the natural) but also to remind people that there is an inherent beauty in even the most everyday aspects of nature. | ||||
